Now, it may seem a little counterproductive of us at Bluebird Refrigeration, one of the highest quality refrigerator repair companies around, to encourage you to avoid a repair if possible. However, we want you to keep your system in peak condition for as long as you can! We are always here to assist you in a time of need if you require a professional to help get your refrigeration unit back to ideal working condition.
So, here are a few simple tips to keep your refrigeration unit working efficiently and effectively for as long as possible from the refrigeration experts themselves…
Keeping it clean
This may seem like a fairly straightforward task, but you would be surprised how many people don’t clean their refrigeration unit regularly, letting grime build up, potentially clogging vital components! We understand that it may look to be a fairly daunting job, especially if your refrigeration unit is large in size and has a high volume of products you will have to shift to get to every nook and cranny. But, if you clean your refrigerator effectively, you are avoiding a collection of dust and grime that could disrupt how your unit functions, damaging it short and/or long term.
We recommend that you clean your refrigerators every 1 or 2 weeks, removing all items inside and scrubbing all shelves and sides. This general upkeep of your unit helps deter the growth of bacteria, which can have an adverse effect on items inside or their packaging. No one wants to see mould or grime on their favourite food products, so make sure your building doesn’t fall foul of this. It’s better to be safe than sorry in our opinion.
Check for any liquid or spillages
We are sure this will come hand in hand with cleaning your refrigeration unit, but if you notice any liquid that is present, or if any of your products have spilled or leaked inside your system, then you should tend to it straight away, no questions asked (apart from where it may have come from). If liquids are left within the cold temperatures of a refrigerator for too long, there is the possibility of them freezing over. This could, in turn, enter the electrical components and stop them functioning properly, causing internal damage that can only be repaired by a professional.
Are your doors secure?
One of the main components of a refrigerator is its door. They help keep the cold temperature of the interior and the much warmer temperatures of the exterior separate, so products can be in peak condition in a cold temperature that suits them. If there is an issue with your doors, then your products could be at risk of being damaged, so you should regularly check on their condition and make this a high priority.
You will see a long strip around the edges of your door which forms a seal, to keep the cold temperatures enclosed when the doors are closed, which are called door gaskets. If there are any cracks or breaks in this seal, then your refrigerator will have to work harder than usual to maintain the required temperature. This could cause overheating or a high electrics bill, a scenario we are sure no one wants to encounter!
